Golfers Win Again; Third Straight Victory To Start Season

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team carded an identical score from yesterday of 307 to win the Penn State Altoona Invitational at the Iron Masters Country Club on Monday afternoon.

Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), who was runner up to teammate Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) on Sunday at Mt. Aloysius, got revenge and claimed first place on a playoff hole with a score of 73.

Pitt-Bradford finished second with a 320 and Allegany College of Maryland came in third (328).

The Lions had four players in the Top 10, including Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) took fourth overall with a 75. Brian Ropiecki (North East, PA/North East) tied for eighth with a 79 for the course, while Vetica tied for 10th with four other golfers after carding an 80.

Alex Shindledecker tallied an 86 to round out Behrend's five golfers for the day.

The Lions return to action on Monday at the Behrend Invitational at Lake View Country Club in North East.
