Men's Golf Shoots Season Best at Gannon Spring Invitational

CLYMER, NY – Competing against Division II teams, the Penn State Behrend men's golf team finished fifth out of six teams at the Gannon University Spring Invitational held on the lower course at the Peek'n Peak Golf Resort.

Humber College had a winning team score of 280 and Roberts Wesleyan was three strokes behind for second (283), while Mercyhurst placed third (284) followed by Gannon in fourth (287). The Lions carded a 291, their best team score this season.

Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) tied for seventh overall with a career-best 70 for the course. Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) and Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) both tied for 13th place with a score of 72.

Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) was Behrend's fourth golfer that shot in the 70's, finishing with a 77 for 27th place. Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) finished the day with an 82, good for 36th overall.

The Lions return to action tomorrow at the Mercyhurst Invitational. Tee time is 12:30 p.m.
