Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Fourth at Edward Jones Shootout

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's golf team carded a season-low 296 on the second day of the Edward Jones Shootout to tie for fourth place overall with a combined score of 604.

Carnegie Mellon, the hosts of the two-day event, had the top two teams in the tournament. The "A" team posted a 583 for first place and the "B" team shot a 591 for second place. St. Vincent was in third with a 603 combined total, while Point Park and the Lions tied for fourth.

Behrend took 12 strokes off yesterday's score to come back with best round of the fall and spring season combined.

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) improved one place for third overall. He was even with par on day two with a 70 to finish at 142. Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) tied for seventh overall after shooting a 74 today for a two-day total of 149.

Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) tied his score from yesterday with a 75 and also tied for 11th place thanks to a 150 score. Brian Ropiecki (North East, PA/North East) was the fourth golfer for the Lions to shoot in the 70's on day two, finishing with a 77 and nine strokes better than day one for a 163 score.

Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) stayed in 36th place even though he improved from an 88 to 80 for a 168 total. 

Behrend returns to action Saturday at Gannon, beginning at 1 p.m.
