Golf Takes Fourth at St. Vincent Invitational

LATROBE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team shot a 321 to finish in fourth place at the St. Vincent Invitational held at the Latrobe Country Club on Thursday afternoon.

The Bearcats won their own invitational with a low-score of 297. The Allegheny Gators followed in second with a 311 and Grove City placed third with a 315 total. The Lions were fourth and Thiel was two strokes behind for fifth (323).

Cam Roth and Jake Reed from St. Vincent were the top two golfers, both carding a 72 on the day.

Behrend was led by Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic). The senior carded a 75 to tie for fourth place overall. Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) was second on the team with an 80.

Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) tied with an 83 for 18 holes, while Brian Ropiecki (North East, PA/North East) tallied an 88 for the fifth score on the team.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday at the Gannon Invitational.
