Men's Golf In Fourth Place at Edward Jones Shootout

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After day one of the Edward Jones Shootout hosted by Carnegie Mellon, the Penn State Behrend men's golf team is in fourth place with a team score of 308 on Saturday afternoon.

The host Tartans lead the invitational with a 295, followed by Point Park in second (304) and St. Vincent in third (305). The Lions are just four strokes out from second place heading into the second day of competition.

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) is the fourth best golfer today, carding a team-low score of 72 (34-38). Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) and Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) are tied for eighth place overall with a 75 total for 18 holes. Van Damia recorded on the back nine with a 35 after shooting a 40 on the front.  Klein went 39-36 on the day to match VanDamia.

Brian Ropiecki (North East, PA/North East) and Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) rounded out Behrend's five. Ropiecki finished with an 86 (44-42) to place 35th and Matlock carded an 88 (45-43) for 36th overall.

The Lions return to action tomorrow for day two of the shootout. Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m.
