Lions Place Third at Grove City Invitational

GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's golf team placed third out of seven teams with a score of 315 at the Grove City Invitational held on Wednesday afternoon.

The Grove City Red team won the tournament with the low score of 294 thanks to first and second place golfers Christian Locher (69) and Brian Giesler (71). Thiel finished second with a 297 and the Lions earned third.

Senior Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) tied for fourth overall with an 18-hole total of 74. He carded 37 on the front and back nine to lead Behrend in its first spring outing.

Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) took second on the team, shooting the same score on the first and last nine holes (39-39) to card a 78. Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) shot a 39 on the front nine to match Klein and then finished with a 41 on the back for an 80 and third on the squad.

Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) and Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) were fourth and fifth on the team, respectively. Stinson tallied a 43-40 for an 83 total and Shindledecker posted a 43-44 for an 87 on the day.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
