Klein Leads Golfers at NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, NC - The Penn State Behrend men's golf team in 32nd place out of 41 teams on the second day of the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships at the Grandover Resort & Conference Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Lions carded a 315 on day two of competition combined with day one to finish with a 627. Redlands advances to the third day and is in first place with a 577 while Berry is in second place with 584.

Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) recorded the best finish by a Behrend or AMCC golfer at nationals. The senior went to a playoff hole to try to be the sixth and solo golfer to advance in the championship. He had par for the hole and his opponent birdied to win. Klein tied for 29th overall with a two-day score of 148 (72-76). 

Junior Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was second on the team with a score of 154. He shot an 81 on day two to tie for 95th overall. 

Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) tied for 125th in the field after firing a team-best score of 75 on the second day for a total of 158.

Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harborcreek) was one stroke better than day one, carding an 83 for a 167 overall and tying for 186th place. Brian Ropiecki (North East, PA/North East) took seven strokes off day one to score an 85. He totaled 177 overall to tie for 204th.
