Men's Golf Leads AMCC Championships

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – The reigning two-time Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) champion Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) is on top of the leader board with a low-score 71 after day one of the AMCC Championships on Sunday at Oak Tree Country Club.

Vetica leads a field of 45 golfers, shooting par for the course and help the Lions sit in first place heading into the final day. Behrend is in first with a 304 followed by Penn State Altoona in second with a 317 and Medaille in third with 331.

The Lions have four golfers in the Top 10. Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) is on the heels of Vetica with a 73 for two-over par and second place. Senior Casey Courneen (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) and Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) are tied for eighth with an 80 on the first day of the championships.

Dan Corbin (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) finished with an 83 as Behrend's fifth golfer, good enough for 14th place.

The Lions are looking for their fourth straight AMCC Championship. Day two tee time is 9:30 a.m.
