Lions Take Third at La Roche Invitational

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Dante Vetica (Hermitage, PA/Kennedy Catholic) tied for fourth with a team-low score of 78 to lead Penn State Behrend to a third-place finish at the La Roche Invitational on Tuesday.

The Lions were five strokes out from Grove City, who won the tournament with a 318 total. St. Vincent finished second (320) and Behrend was third with a team score of 323.

Vetica tallied a 38 on the front nine and a 40 on the back for his 18-hole score of 78. Casey Courneen (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) and Scott Klein (Fairview, PA/Fairview) also shot a 38 on the front nine for the Lions. Courneen was second on the team and ninth overall (80), while Klein posted a 43 on the back to end with an 81 for 10th place.

Nicholas VanDamia (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), the current AMCC Athlete of the Week, hit 40-44 to tie with four other individuals for 18th place.

Sean Sculley (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) completed the group with a 90 (45-45) on the day.
