Lions Even After First Day of Convergence Tournament

LA VERNE, Calif. – Nic Pabich scored four goals and Ali Khan recorded a pair of goals to help the Behrend men’s water polol team defeat Caltech 10-7 at the Convergence Tournament in California on Friday afternoon.

The Lions never trailed during the game, jumping out to a 5-2 lead at halftime. Nick Loukides, Sam Hyrne, Colin McGarry and Max Hrbal also scored vs. Caltech. Chris Dunleavy made four saves in goal and one steal.

In the second game against Vanguard, Behrend dropped a 14-6 decision. It marked the second time the Lions fell to Vanguard this season. Loukides netted a hat trick, while McGarry and Hyrne added a goal to their first-game total. Brandon Horsch tallied the last goal for the Lions.

Vanguard held Behrend scoreless in the first quarter and managed to score seven goals to take the lead and took a 12-3 advantage at intermission.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Occidental and Cal Baptist on the second day of the Convergence Tournament.
