ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sam Hyrne scored five goals and Chris Dunleavy made 12 saves, but the Penn State Behrend Lions men’s water polo team fell to Washington & Jefferson and Gannon at the Southern Division Championships hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
On Friday night, the Presidents used a 5-1 first quarter to build a lead that would not relinquish. Ali Khan scored a hat trick, while Nick Loukides added two goals. Dunleavy made a game-high 10 saves.
In their second game of the weekend, the Lions faced local-rival Gannon. The Knights netted six goals in the first and third quarters keep Behrend out of reach. Hyrne scored a team-best four goals while six other players had a goal for the Lions. Dunleavy was able to make two stops in the loss.
Behrend returns to action tomorrow for the final day of the Southern Division Championships.
