Lowery Named AMCC Women's Swimmer of the Year; All-Conference Released

ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Swimmer of the Year, headlining the 2015-16 All-Conference Team, announced on Friday.

Lowery is the sixth female in program history to be named Swimmer of the Year after tying for the highest-point scorer at the AMCC Championships with 27 points. She is also a seven-time first-team All-AMCC choice for winning three individual events and four relays. Lowery swam on the final 400 free relay team that set the AMCC open, meet and school record. She was also a part of the 200 free relay, 200 and 400 medley relays. Her gold medals came in the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle.

Joining Lowery as a seven-time All-Conference selection is sophomore Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village). She was named to the first team for her individual titles in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke, while earning second team in the 100 freestyle. She was also a part of the 200 and 400 free relays, and 200 and 400 medley relays.

Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) is being named to the first team for the first time in her career, winning three individual events (500 free, 400 IM and 1650 free). She also was a second-team choice in the 800 freestyle relay.

Picking up her first individual gold medals and first-team honors is junior Allie Schneider (Erie, PA/McDowell). She was the winner in the 100 and 200 backstroke events at the championship meet, while swimming on two first-place relays (200 free, 400 free). Schneider tallied her final All-Conference nod on the second team for the 800 freestyle relay.

Junior Kristin Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell) won the 200 breaststroke and swam on the winning 200 and 400 medley relays for three first-team honors. She added three more All-Conference accolades by earning second team in the 200 IM, 100 breaststroke and 800 free relay.

Freshman Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) rounded out the first-team All-AMCC honors with four relay victories (200 free, 200 medley, 400 medley, 400 free). Newcomer Claire Mallick (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills) was instrumental on the second-place 800 free relay, earning second-team All-Conference.
