ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team's home opener this Saturday features the Pitt-Bradford Panthers and the Medaille Mavericks at 1 p.m. in the Junker Center Pool.

* Head coach Jen Wallace begins her 18th season as the mentor for both Lions teams
* Behrend begins its 21st swimming and diving season as a member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference
* The Lions competed four times during the 2020-21 season but no AMCC Championships were held
* The 2021-22 women's team consists of 16 individuals, including two AMCC champions
* Marcella Puglia (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) returns after setting the school record in the 400 Free Relay along with breaking the AMCC Meet Records in the 1650 Free and 400 Free Relay. She also broke the AMCC Open Records in the 1000 Free, 1650 Free and 400 Free Relay
* Barbie Cessar (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) is a returning AMCC Champion, while Valerie Grimes (Farmington, PA/Uniontown), Trulee Stainbrook (DuBois, PA/DuBois Area) and Liv Webster (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) are All-AMCC selections
