Women's Volleyball Receives Bid to ECAC Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team received its sixth bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament after finishing the regular season with a 19-12 record.

The Lions are the fifth seed and will travel to No. 4 Bethany on Wednesday night for first-round action, beginning at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 15 and face the top-seed Carnegie Mellon.

It is the sixth time in nine years Behrend will be competing in the ECAC postseason. The Lions won the ECAC South Region Title in 2008. 

Behrend earned the fifth seed in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament with a 5-4 conference mark. The Lions defeated Pitt-Bradford 3-0 in the first round, before falling 3-2 to top-seeded Penn State Altoona in the semifinals.

The Bisons (25-13) are looking to capture its fifth consecutive ECAC title. The defending champions won the 2010-14 ECAC titles. The Bisons fell to Geneva 3-1 in the semifinals of the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament.
