Golfers Win Penn State Altoona Invitational

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend won their second invitational of the fall season, capturing the Penn State Altoona Invite with a team score of 308 at the Sinking Valley Country Club on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions had four golfers shoot in the 70's, three of which were in the Top 10 for an eight-stroke lead over second place. Allegheny Community College (MD) came in second with a score of 316, while AMCC rivals Pitt-Greensburg and La Roche tied for third with a 318 total.

Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Sean Sculley (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) tied for fourth place overall for shooting four over par with a 76. Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) was one stroke ahead with a 77 for course, tying for seventh overall.

Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tied for 11th for carding a 79 on the day and Zac McCue (Prospect, PA/Slippery Rock) tallied an 84 to tie for 35th place.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow at the Mt. Aloysius Invitational. Tee time is 9 a.m.
