Sculley Places Fourth at Mercyhurst Spring Invitational; Lions Take Sixth

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Sean Sculley (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) finished tied for fourth with a two-day score of 149 at the Mercyhurst Spring Invitational held at the Lake View Country Club on Monday.

Sculley was tied for second after day one with a 74 and came back today with a 75 to help the Lions place sixth out of nine teams. Behrend tallied a 316 yesterday and a 311 for sixth for a 627. Mercyhurst won the invitational, recording a team score of 590. Roberts Wesleyan was second (603) and Humber in third (607).

Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) tied for 29th after carding a 160 (76-84) for the tournament. Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) shot 17 over par for a 161 total score, carding an 82 on day one and 79 on day two to place 31st.

Mark Peters (Mercer, PA/Mercer) was 33rd overall, shooting a 163 two-day total (84-79). Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) completed the first team with a 166 score and placing 38th.

JT Kuchnicki (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) and Garrett Schlick (Harmony, PA/ Seneca Valley) led the second squad with a 159 and tallied the second-best score among the Behrend golfers. The Lions "B" team took seventh with a score of 650. Kuchnicki fired a 79 and then 80, while Schlick went 81 on the first day and 78 on the second.

Zac McCue (Prospect, PA/Slippery Rock) tied for 39th (167) and Noah Kunst (Kittanning, PA/Kittanning) tied for 43rd (170). Andy Goss (Allison, Park, PA/Hampton) had the final score of 179 to take 50th overall.

The Lions return to action at the NCAA Championship on May 16-19 at Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
