Men's Golf Earns Fourth at CMU Spring Shootout

APOLLO, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team placed fourth out of nine teams with a two-day total score of 612 at the Carnegie Mello Spring Shootout held at The Links at Spring Church on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions fired a 305 on day two and had two finish in the Top 10. Carnegie Mellon won the Shootout with a low score of 595 and Point Park was second with 603. Saint Vincent carded the best round of the tournament today with a 290 to place third (606) and Behrend followed in fourth.

Sean Sculley (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) placed in the Top 10 for the invitational. Sculley tied his score from yesterday of 75 to finish with a 150 and earn seventh place overall. Matlock tied for eighth place, carding a team-low score of 74 on the day to end with a 151.

Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) tied for 21st after shooting a 79 on day two, combined with a 76 from day one for a 155. Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tallied a 77 today to finish with a 156 and tie for 24th overall.

JT Kuchnicki (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) was the top finisher for the second team, who took ninth place with a two-day score of 652. Kuchnicki tied for 30th (81-78) with a 159 and Noah Kunst (Kittanning, PA/Kittanning) matched his score from the first round (81-81) to end with 162 (T36). Andy Goss (Allison, Park, PA/Hampton) recorded an 80 today for a 163 total to tie for 38th. Zac McCue (Prospect, PA/Slippery Rock) shaved eight strokes off his score from yesterday with an 80 to take 168 and earn 42nd overall.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, April 22 at Gannon.
