Goss Leads Lions at James Bowen Fall Invitational

ERIE, Pa. – Freshman Andy Goss (Allison Park, PA/Hampton) was the individual medalist with a low score of 75 at the James Bowen Fall Invitational hosted by Penn State Behrend at the Lawrence Park Golf Course.

Goss helped the team finish third overall with a score of 322. Penn State Altoona captured first place as a team with 313 total and La Roche was second, earning a 321. The Lions had a second team compete, placing fourth overall with a score of 325.

Goss parred 14 holes and birdied another to shoot a 37 on the front and 38 on the back to win the invitational. Noah Kunst (Kittanning, PA/Kittanning) and Mark Peters (Mercer, PA/Mercer) each tied for eighth place with an 80 on the day. Kunst birdied two holes and carded a 40 on the front and back, while Peters birdied one hole to match Kunst (40-40).

Zach McCue (Prospect, PA/Slippery Rock) was the fourth and final score for Behrend on the first squad, tying for 32nd overall with an 87.

The Lions had a total of four golfers finish tied for eighth place. Leading the second group, who tallied a 325, was Sean Sculley (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell) also carded an 80 to match Kunst and Peters. Sculley fired a 38 on the way out and came back for the final nine to shoot a 42. Shindledecker birdied a hole on the front nine and two more on the back to card a 41-39.

Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tied for 14th overall with an 82 for the course. He birdied a hole on the front to fire a 40 and then tallied a 42 on the back.

JT Kuchnicki (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) was the final golfer for the Lions. He shot an 83, birding one hole on the back nine for a 40 and 43 to tie for 18th place.

Behrend returns to action on Sunday at the AMCC Championships at Avalon Lakes Golf & Country Club in Warren, Ohio.
