Golfers Finish Fifth at CMU Spring Invite

PENN HILLS, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's golf team finished fifth out of nine teams with a team score of 333 at the Carnegie Mellon Spring Invitational held at Longvue Golf Course on Thursday afternoon.

The hosts won the invitational with a team-low score of 304. Grove City came in second (326), followed by St. Vincent in third (327), Heidelberg in fourth (331) and the Lions in fifth (333).

Junior Sean Sculley (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) led Behrend with a low score of 81 to tie for eighth overall and finish 11 over par. Sophomore Noah Kunst (Kittanning, PA/Kittanning) was second on the team and tied for 13th overall with an 82.

Senior Cody Stinson (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) tied for 26th overall with an 84, while junior Ryan Matlock (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) was two strokes behind Stinson with an 86 to tie for 31st place.

Rounding out the Lions five golfers was junior Alex Shindledecker (Erie, PA/McDowell), who tied for 47th with a score of 92.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday at the Rosemont Tournament. Tee time is 10 a.m.
