Geary, Valkusky Named to ACWPC All-Academic Team

ERIE, Pa. – Two Penn State Behrend men's water polo players earned spots on the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team for the 2016 season.

Senior driver Mike Geary (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) was one of 86 student-athletes named in the outstanding category for maintaining a GPA between 3.71 and 4.0. In the water, Geary contributed one goal, two assists and seven steals.

Junior driver Troy Valkusky (Drifton, PA/Hazleton) earned a spot in the excellent category, where athletes must hold a 3.20 – 3.40 GPA. He was second on the team in assists with 23 and fourth in goals with 19. Valkusky also added 50 steals and tied for first on the team with 11 field blocks.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member of the ACWPC, while the athlete must attain a grade point average in excess of 3.20. A total of 357 athletes were named to the team.
