Women's Basketball Host Pitt-Greensburg in AMCC First Round
The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team will be making its 16th straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament appearance when they host Pitt-Greensburg in the first round on Tuesday night at the Junker Center. Game time is 6 p.m.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team will be making its 16th straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament appearance when they host Pitt-Greensburg in the first round on Tuesday night at the Junker Center. Game time is 6 p.m.
The Lions (15-9, 13-5 AMCC) earned the third seed and will battle the Bobcats (11-14, 9-9 AMCC) for a third time this season. The winner of the game will advance to the semifinals to take on No. 2 seed Medaille at top-seeded La Roche on Friday night at 8 p.m.
In the other first-round game, No. 5 Mt. Aloysius will travel to No. 4 Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday night. The winner will face the Redhawks in the first semifinal game, beginning at 6 p.m. The two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday at 3 p.m. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Behrend is looking for its third conference championship and first since the 2003-04 season. The Lions have advanced to seven title games since the inception of the AMCC back in 1997. Last year, Behrend defeated Pitt-Greensburg in the first round, 75-54. The Lions enter the playoffs with a two-game winning streak and are 1-1 against the Bobcats this season.
