Penn State Behrend Opens AMCC with Win Over Frostburg

The Penn State Behrend Lions women's soccer team got off to a fast start in conference play as they defeated the Frostburg State Bobcats by a score of 2-0 on Saturday, September 19 at the Behrend Fields.

The blue and white struck at the 15:44 mark in the first half when sophomore Glennis Robash (Mars/Mars) received a pass from teammate Heather Klimuszka (Rochester/Greece-Athena) and found the back of the net to put Behrend up by a goal.

The game remained the same until Behrend freshman Meredith Gipson (Murrysville/Franklin Regional) scored on an assist from Valerie Wagner (Pittsburgh/Montour) to make the score 2-0.  Senior goalkeeper Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) would go on to record her third shutout of the season.

The Behrend Lions will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to take on the Allegheny Gators in a non-conference matchup.  The game is set to be played at 3:00 p.m.  Behrend improves to 4-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the AMCC.
