Behrend Hammers the Hilbert Hawks 6-0, to Improve to 4-0-1 in AMCC

Penn State Behrend took it to the Hilbert Hawks in AMCC women's soccer action on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, by winning 6-0.

Behrend has won or tied in six straight matches and is now 8-2-3 overall, 4-0-1 in the league. Hilbert falls to 6-6-2 and 3-4 in the AMCC.

In the first half of the game only one shot found the back of the net as Meredith Gipson (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) connected off a pass from Lindsey Steinsdoerfer (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) at the 32:18 mark for a 1-0 Behrend advantage.

Behrend cranked it up in the second 45 when Heather Klimuszka (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) scored with only 1:03 elapsing from the clock. Glennis Robash  (Mars, PA/Mars) then scored a pair during a six minute stretch before Klimuszka netted her second goal of the day and sixth of the season. Danielle Pelensky (Erie, PA/Harborcreek) closed out the day of scoring with her second goal of the year, to help Behrend register the 6-0 shutout. 

In goal, seniors Kayla Frost (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) and Beth Lacy (Erie, PA/Harborcreek) combined on the shutout.

The Behrend Lions are set to host the La Roche Redhawks on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. on the Behrend Fields. Then on Saturday, the blue and white will face Fransican at 1:00 p.m.
