Lions Compete at Tiger Invitational

ROCHESTER, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at the Rochester Institute of Technology Tiger Invitational on Saturday to open their 2014 season.

Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren) won the 800m run with a time of 2:23.10.

In the 60m dash final, Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) came in second place with at time of 8.14. Allen also finished second in the preliminary round with a time of 8.17.

Corinne Conto (Bruin, PA/Karns City Area) earned a top-10 finish in the triple jump, coming in ninth with a distance of 9.57m.

In the 500 meter dash, Abby Gilmore (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) finished seventh with a time of 1:29:82.

The Behrend team of Allen, Spade, Franki Disalvo (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Kati Piger (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) finished fifth in the 800m relay with a time of 1:53.61.

Piger also finished sixth in the triple jump, going 9.82 meters.

The Lions netted a top-10 finish in the 1600m relay as well. Gilmore, Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic), Lauren Smith (Greencastle, PA/Pine Richland), and Jen Gibson (Hookstown, PA/South Side) finished ninth with a time of 4:39.09.

Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) carded a sixth place finish in the 3000m run with a time of 11:10.84

The Lions will next compete at the Jan Spire Open in Geneva, Ohio on January 25.
