Lions Travel to Carnegie Mellon

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State women's track and field team took to Gesling Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) won the 100 meter run with a time of 12.86. Allen later posted a second place finish in the 200, coming in at 27.01.

Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren) finished first in the 800 with a time of 2:18.46.

Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) won the 1500 meter race at 5:09.38. The senior then came in second in the 3000 at 10:57.39.

In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) and Miranda Boatman (Bellefonte, PA/Bellfonte) finished first and second, with times of 12:02.65 and 13:39.59, respectively.

Franki DiSalvo (Erie, PA/McDowell), Allen, Spade, and Kati Piger (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) finished first in the 4x100 meter relay race with at time of 50.62 seconds.

Piger posted a second place finish in the long jump, going 4.76 meters.

April McDermott (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) was runner up in the discus throw competition at 34.20 meters.

The Lions will next travel to Westminster on April 12.
