Lions Close Out ECAC Championships in Style

TROY, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team continued their run at the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Association (ECAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Friday.

In the 800 meter run, Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren) finished fourth out of 26 competitors with a time of 2:16.93, earning the Lions five team points in the process. The senior entered the meet ranked 17th in the nation by both the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) and the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) earned Behrend one team point with an eighth-place finish in the 100 meter dash finals.

The Lions foursome of Spade, Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic), Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton), and Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) finished fourth in their section and 14th overall in the 4x800 meter relay event with a time of 10:03.50.

In addition, the Behrend squad of Franki DiSalvo (Erie, PA/McDowell), Allen, Kati Piger (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock), and Spade competed in the 4x100 meter relay event.

As a team, the Lions achieved six points and finished 45th out of 55 programs.
