Women's Track and Field Competes at ECAC Outdoor Championships

TROY, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team traveled to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Thursday afternoon for day one of the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championships.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) qualified for Friday's 100 meter dash finals with a third-place finishing time of 12.30 seconds in the preliminary round. In doing so, the freshman broke her own Behrend outdoor record.

The Lions then broke another school record, this time in the 4x400 meter relay event. The team of Franki DiSalvo (Erie, PA/McDowell), Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren), Jen Gibson (Hookstown, PA/South Side), and Allen came in at 4:01.69, which was good for sixth place.

Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) finished 12th in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:10.41.

In the 10,000 meter run, Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) posted a 15th place finish of 39:20.06.

Behrend will return to the Ned Harkness Field and Track for day two of the ECAC Outdoor Championships on May 16 beginning at 10 a.m.
