Women's Volleyball Face Bethany in ECAC South Region Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team received its fifth bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament after finishing the regular season with a 19-9 record.

The Lions are the eighth seed and will travel to No. 1 Bethany on Wednesday night for first-round action, beginning at 7 p.m.  The winner will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 10 and face the winner of No. 4 Cabrini/No. 5 Lebanon Valley, hosted by the highest remaining seed.

Behrend captured the AMCC regular-season championship and earned the top seed for the conference tournament. The Lions defeated Pitt-Bradford 3-0 in the semifinals, before falling 3-1 to Medaille in the championships.

The Bisons are looking to capture its third consecutive ECAC title. Bethany, who tied the record for most wins in a regular season with 28, won the 2010 and 2011 ECAC titles. In the PAC Tournament, the Bisons defeated Grove City in the quarterfinals, but fell to Thiel 3-1 in the semifinals.

It is the fifth time in seven years Behrend will be competing in the ECAC postseason. The Lions won the ECAC South Region Title in 2008.
