LEXINGTON, Va. – Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) scored two goals for the Penn State women's water polo team in a 13-4 loss to Grove City College on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions trailed just 3-1 after one quarter, but the Wolverines outscored Behrend 11-0 in the second and third quarters combined to take control of the game.
The Lions continued to battle, however, outscoring Grove City 2-0 in the final period.
Mary Therese Causgrove (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Paula Rusca (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) added goals for Behrend.
In game two, the Lions fell to Virginia Military Institute 19-5.
Rusca scored three goals for Behrend, who despite three second quarter goals trailed 11-4 going into halftime.
Brittany Pinter (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Breanne Martinez (La Mirada, CA/St. Joseph) scored for the Lions, who fell to 0-2 on the young season.
Freshman goalie Kara Stegmann (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) made 12 saves for Behrend in the loss.
The third game of the season saw the Lions fall 13-4 to Gannon.
Pinter scored twice for Behrend, who trailed 8-1 at halftime.
Martinez and Pinter also netted goals for the Lions, who dropped to 0-3.
Behrend will host local rival Mercyhurst on Tuesday, March 4 at 8:00 p.m. in the Junker Center pool.
