ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend women's water polo goalie Kara Stegmann (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) was named the Collegiate Water Polo Assocation (CWPA) Division III Rookie of the Week after her spectacular performance at the CWPA Regional Tournament over the weekend.

Stegmann was also named to the CWPA weekly honor roll.

The freshman helped lead the Lions to a 7-6 upset victory over Carthage, the top ranked Division III CWPA team, on Sunday afternoon. She also scored a goal in Saturday's contest against Connecticut College.

Stegmann has started all 17 games for Behrend in 2014. She has made 149 saves, forced 27 steals, and scored three goals on the season.

The Lions will host Gannon at the Junker Center pool on Thursday, April 5, at 8 p.m.
