Three Earn CWPA Player of the Week Honors

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team swept the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Player of the Week awards for the week ending April 10.

Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) was named Player of the Week, Kara Stegmann (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors and Clare Jefferys (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) was named Rookie of the Week.

Horn scored 19 goals, grabbed eight steals and drew a pair of kickouts in a 2-3 week for the Lions. Horn scored six times on the road as Penn State Behrend downed the host Wolverines, 12-6, prior to pumping in seven strikes in a 12-10 victory at home in Erie.

Stegmann racked up 38 saves with pairs of steals and assists in anchoring the Lions to a pair of victories over Grove City College to clinch the No. 4 seed for the DIII Championship, the highest seed the program has achieved in its history.

Jefferys tallied five goals during the week, including three in an away win against Grove City on April 9.
