Behrend Lions Earn AMCC Institutional Peak Performer Award

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend has won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Institutional Peak Performer Award for the 2022-23 academic year. It is the second time in three years the Behrend Lions have earned this honor.

The AMCC honors the member with the highest percentage of student-athletes named to the Academic All-Conference Team.  The Lions placed 60.41% of their student-athletes on the team, after earning six Team Peak Performer awards earlier in the week (men's basketball, women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, women's soccer, wrestling).

Across the conference, 939 student-athletes achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher as of the Fall 2022 semester, earning the distinction of being named Academic All-Conference.

The Behrend Lions had 171 student-athletes named to the Academic All-Conference Team. Out of the 191 athletes, the Lions had 115­­ earning individual Peak Performers for posting a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The Lions also had 58 student-athletes selected for induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, a National Collegiate Student-Athlete Honor Society.

Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes college student-athletes who participate in a sport at the varsity intercollegiate level, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full time semester, and earn a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes who compete for a collegiate club team are also eligible if the club team is overseen by the athletics department at the local chapter.
