ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team earned a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Tournament, announced on Monday.
The Lions (16-2-2) earned a first round bye as the No. 1 seed and will host the semifinals and finals this weekend. They will play the winner of No 4. Arcadia and No. 5 Grove City on either Friday or Saturday.
The second and third rounds will be played either on Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. If No. 3 Geneva advances over No. 6 Hood, the tournament will take place Friday and Saturday. If Hood advances over Geneva, the tournament will continue as originally scheduled and be played on Saturday and Sunday.
Behrend is making their seventh appearance in the ECAC Tournament and first since 2012. The Lions were victorious in 2009, claiming the ECAC Championship crown. In 2012, Behrend was also the No. 1 seed and hosted the tournament. They were upset by No. 5 seed Alvernia 2-0 in the semifinal matchup.
The Lions were the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) regular season co-champions after finishing the season 8-1 in AMCC play. After taking down La Roche 3-2 in the conference semifinals, they tied Mount Aloysius 0-0, but fell 4-3 in penalty kicks.
