ALFRED, NY  – Amy Oldach registered her second-best performance of the season with a  game-high 28 points, knocking in five three-pointers to lead Penn State Behrend over Alfred 71-50 in non-conference women's basketball action on Sunday.

The Lions' (6-3) never trailed and pulled down a season-high 52 rebounds to collect their first victory in 2011 and fourth consecutive win.

Courtney Lincoln led the Saxons (4-4) with 13 points and two steals.

The opening 6-0 run was a good indication of how the rest of the game would go. Oldach started Behrend off with a layup and two steals that would lead to an Emily Detsch basket and two free throws by Aly Eagle for a six-point lead.

Five straight points from Abby Henderson gave the Lions a double-digit advantage at the 11:34 mark of the first half. Alfred scored the next six consecutive points to cut the lead to 17-15. Kim Pol, Holly Bourquin and Oldach each scored three points in different ways, a triple, free-throws and a three-point play to go ahead 27-18.

Oldach's 15 first-half points helped Behrend keep its lead heading into the second stanza. She scored five points in the final 1:13 and Natalie Corso drained two from the line for an 11-point cushion.

The Lions took the opening 5:29 of the second half to take their largest lead at 50-26. Behrend finished with a 21-point victory.

Behrend returns home on Wednesday against D'Youville. Game time is 6 p.m.
