Behrend Remains Undefeated Against Hilbert

ERIE, Pa.  – Natalie Corso went 6-for-7 from behind the arc for a game- and career-high 18 points to lead Penn State Behrend past Hilbert 86-26 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday night.

The Lions (13-4, 9-2 AMCC) extend their winning streak to 16 straight games against the Hawks (1-16, 0-11 AMCC) to remain undefeated in the all-time series. Kim Pol did not miss from the floor on her four shots for 11 points and Abby Henderson also had a double-digit game with 10.

Forward Amber Grosch scored half of Hilbert's points with 13 and pulling down six boards.

Behrend outscored the Hawks by 60 points, almost double of the scoring-margin average in the last 15 meetings between the two teams (36.1 ppg).

The Lions had it easy going in the first half, starting with 19 unanswered points. Hilbert was able to get on the board with two free throws by Julie Bossard at the 12:46 mark, but it wasn't until three and a half minutes later that the Hawks would score their first field goal.

By that time, Behrend had extended the lead to 31-4 and ended the half with a 39-point lead. The Lions held Hilbert to just 10 points in the first half, the fewest allowed in the opening stanza by Behrend this season.

The win marks the largest margin of victory the eighth time the Lions have defeated an opponent by 20 or more points. Head coach Roz Fornari will enter Saturday's game just three wins away from 300 for her coaching career.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday against La Roche in the Junker Center. Game time is 6 p.m.
