The Winning Steak Continues For Women's Basketball

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team are on a roll, winning their fifth straight with a convincing 72-37 victory over D'Youville in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday night.

The win marked the fourth consecutive game the Lions (7-3, 3-1 AMCC) have scored 70+ points. Freshman Sarah Schweitzer had her best performance in a Behrend uniform with 13 points (6-for-8) and eight rebounds.

Holly Bourquin also added 13 points, while Aly Eagle drained four three-pointers for 12 and Brianna Bayly had a season-high 11 points.

The Spartans' (2-9, 1-3 AMCC) point guard, Kay York, had 1/3 of their points with 17.

Behrend started out sluggish in the first half, giving up seven straight points and five belonging to York. Bourquin netted the first basket for the Lions at the 14:58 mark and from they closed out the first half with a 27-10 run to turn things back around.

Four consecutive three-pointers, including two from Bayly, gave Behrend a 24-15 lead with 4:15 before intermission.

The second half looked much like the first. Eagle missed her first three-pointer taken in the half, but came back down to score six points in eight seconds with two triples thanks to a D'Youville foul in between.

The lead grew to 21 points on an Amy Oldach layup at 11:48 and continued to grow to 37 points (65-28) on a Natalie Corso bomb from beyond the arc with 5:10 remaining.

Oldach led with six assists and four steals.

The Lions will look to continue the winning streak this weekend with back-to-back conference games. Behrend faces Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday and Mt. Aloysius on Sunday. Both games begin at 1 p.m.
