Oldach Resets Career High in Win Over Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa.  – Amy Oldach continues to shine in her final season with the Penn State Behrend women's basketball team, dropping a career-high 35 points to lead the Lions over Penn State Altoona 87-62 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.

Oldach connected on a career-high 13 field-goals and tied her best with five three-pointers, while scoring 50 percent of Behrend's second-half points with 22. Her 35-point performance gets the senior closer to breaking the 1,000-point plateau, putting her 74 points away.

Holly Bourquin was the only other player in double scoring figures with 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting and Emily Detsch grabbed a game- and career-high 10 boards.

The win also marked head coach Roz Fornari's 296th career win to get within four of her 300th coaching victory with the Lions (12-4, 8-2 AMCC).

Behrend used the first half to build a comfortable 20 point lead en route to its eighth conference win and second straight time defeating Altoona this season.

Oldach scored the first nine out of 13 points for the Lions. She went on to score only four more points in the half, only to do better in the final 20 minutes of play. Behrend took the double digit lead off a Brianna Bayly layup at 19-9 with 9:45 left in the first half.

An Aly Eagle triple gave the Lions a 28-18 lead and sparked an 18-5 run to close out the half. Bourquin followed by example and finished how Oldach started the game, scoring eight of the final 11 points for a 43-23 lead at halftime.

Behrend shot 50 percent from the field for the first time this season and 50 percent from behind the arc for the game. Julia Myers matched her season best of eight rebounds and chipped in four points.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday against Hilbert. The game begins at 6 p.m. and will be televised on Image Sports Network, Channel 13 in the county and Channel 20 in the city.
