Women's Basketball To Host Mt. Aloysius in AMCC First Round

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team will be making its 14th straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament appearance when they host Mt. Aloysius in the first round on Tuesday night at the Junker Center. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Lions (18-6, 14-4 AMCC) earned the third seed and will battle the Mounties (10-14, 8-10 AMCC) for the second time in four days.  The winner of the game will advance to the semifinals to take on No. 2 seed Medaille at top-seeded La Roche on Friday night at 8 p.m.

In the other first-round game, No. 5 Penn State Altoona will travel to No. 4 Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday night. The winner will face the Redhawks in the first semifinal game, beginning at 6 p.m. The two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday at 3 p.m. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Behrend is looking for its third conference championship and first since the 2003-04 season. The Lions have advanced to seven title games since the inception of the AMCC back in 1997. Last year, Behrend fell to Penn State Altoona in the first round, 72-63. The Lions enter the playoffs with a three-game winning streak and a 2-0 record against Mt. Aloysius this season. The Mounties are making their first-ever appearance in the AMCC Tournament.

Behrend is led by senior point guard Amy Oldach with 16.2 points, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game. She became the first point guard in program history to reach 1,000 points for her career and is five steals away from becoming the all-time leader.
