Men's Water Polo Team Awards Announced

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo program announced the team awards for the 2010 season. Chris Dunleavy was named Most Valuable Player, Andrew Opalewski was tabbed Most Improved Player, Nicholas Pabich was voted Rookie of the Year and Nicholas Loukides earned the Sportsmanship and Leadership Award.

Dunleavy stepped into the role of goalkeeper midway through the season and made 87 saves and 13 steals. Opalewski, playing in his second season with the Lions, scored six goals on seven shots while dishing out three assists.

Pabich ranked fourth on the team in goals (22) and assists (16). He played in every game, drawing 41 kickouts and making 27 steals.

Nick Loukides, a co-captain with Dunleavy, is a political science major and boasts a 4.0 grade-point average. He contributed 25 goals and 19 assists this season. Loukides and Opalweski were recently named to the CWPA Scholar-Athlete Team and ACWPC All-Academic Squad.
