Women's Track and Field Travels to Tiger Invite

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team opened up their season at the Rochester Institute of Technology Tiger Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Lions finished in 10th out of 11 teams, tallying a score of 21 in 18 scored events.

Junior Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) took home two top-ten finishes at the Tiger Invitational. Allen tied for third in the 200m dash with a time of 27.50. She also finished sixth in the 60m with a time of 8.26.

Freshman Faith Leri (Alexandria, PA/Juniata Valley) placed in all three jumping events. Leri took sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.82m, ninth in the high jump with a height of 1.43m and tied for 10th in the long jump, leaping 4.75m.

Rachel Pell (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) captured a tenth place finish in the 500m, posting a time of 1:29.10, while Ashlyn Carlsson (Butler, PA/Knoch) finished 16th with a time of 1:32.94.

Freshman Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) finished in sixth in the 800m final with a time of 2:28.70. She finished ahead of teammate Katelyn Hancock (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) who finished in 16th. Hancock completed the 800m in 2:38.80

In the 1000m final, Rachel Ramsey (North Versailles, PA/East Allegheny) and Abby Gilmore (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) took 10th and 16th respectively. Ramsey finished with a time of 3:24.56 and Gilmore finished in 3:38.52. Ramsey also took a 17th place finish in the mile, posting a 5:42.03.

In the two relays, Behrend took sixth in the 4x200 and ninth in the 4x400. In the 4x200, the relay team finished with a time of 1:52.37, and in the 4x400, the squad posted a time of 4:31.05.

The Lions return to action next Saturday at the Spire North Invitational in Geneva, Ohio. The event will start at 10 a.m.
