Behrend Women's Water Polo Opens Season With Trio of Matches This Weekend

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team kicks off their season on Friday, starting the year at home against Mount St. Mary's at 7 p.m. Opening weekend will continue through Sunday with the Lions taking on McKendree on Saturday and Siena at Mercyhurst as a part of the Curtis Robinette Memorial Invite.

* The Lions will hit the water for the first action this year, following a shortened season in 2021 that concluded with a 3-5 overall record
* Shannon Young (Roseville, CA/Roseville) returns looking to build off an All-American caliber season a year ago
* Young was named an Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-American Honorable Mention after potting a team-high 14 goals to go along with five assists
* Young was also selected as a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Second Team selection in 2021

* The Mountaineers recorded wins over VMI, Wittenberg and Mercyhurst this season
