Women's Water Polo Lands Three on CWPA Players of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced their Division III Players of the Week on Thursday, having three from Penn State Behrend women's water polo being honored.

Freshman Marley Persch (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) takes home her second consecutive Rookie of the Week award. Persch led the Lions to two wins over the weekend, scoring a team-high 12 goals in four games. She potted four in the win over Utica and three in the defeat of Connecticut.

Samantha Darrell (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) was named to the Defensive Honor Roll, helping the Lions to limit opponents to just 10 goals over two victories. She logged four field blocks over the wins as well as five steals in the two contests. Darrell had a weekend-high six steals in the loss to Grove City. On top of her defensive performance, Darrell registered six goals throughout the weekend.

Emily McNaughton (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) rounds out accolades clinching Offensive Honor Roll. McNaughton tallied 10 goals on the weekend. McNaughton had a team-high four markers in the loss to the Wolverines, collecting multi-goal games in three-of-four.

Behrend is back in action on Saturday for the PSB Invite as the Lions will host Grove City and Washington & Jefferson.
