Baseball Buzzes For Grady's Decision

ERIE, Pa. - On Monday, January 20, the Penn State Behrend baseball team participated in voluntary hair cutting in an effort to raise money and awareness for Grady's Decision, a non-profit organization run by Behrend baseball alumni Ryan Smith and his wife Katrina.

Grady's Decision was created to help families experiencing premature births as well as those families with children needing specialized medical attention.  The organization can assist with parking costs, food, housing near hospitals and transportation needs.

Patrick Simmers, an Erie Barber, volunteered his time to cut the hair for the baseball team. The top three players who fundraised the most had the opportunity to select and cut one of the baseball coaching staff's hair.

"Our program raised over $1,000 for Grady's Decision," said head coach Paul Benim.  "We continue to be excited to support the mission of Grady's Decision and the entire Smith family. Our players and coaches have been growing our their hair, and today they are buzzing it down to raise awareness for all the blessings Grady's Decision provides families."
