Lions Pick Up Two Wins on Senior Day

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team defeated Pitt-Greensburg twice on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions built up a 6-0 lead in game one and went on to win, 8-6. Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell) scored the game's first run on a bases-loaded walk. Ryan Finnegan (Fombell, PA/Riverside) followed with a two-run single to right to give Behrend a 3-0 advantage. Nathan Junk's (Cabot, PA/Knoch) sacrifice fly closed out the scoring in the first, making it 4-0 Lions after one.

The following inning, Behrend scored two more runs on John Hlavinka's (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) two-run single.

After the Bobcats plated four runs in the fourth, Matt Wolczko (Apollo, PA/Kiski) responded in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single. Greensburg sent home a pair of runs in the sixth, but the Lions added one more insurance run on an Alex Margraf (Erie, PA/McDowell) sac-fly in the bottom of the inning.

Tylor Williams (Atlantic, PA/Conneaut Lake) earned the win for Behrend, striking out three in four strong innings. Justin Rohrer (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) nailed down his third save of the season pitching a perfect seventh inning.

Hlavinka went 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI's.

Rohrer wasn't done; as the junior hurled his first career complete-game in the Lions 9-2 gave two victory.

Once again, Behrend (23-11, 11-3 AMCC) built up a sizeable lead. Justin Dilla (South Park, PA/South Park) plated the game's first runs on a 2-RBI double in the bottom of the second. The Lions broke things open the very next inning. Jordan Weinzierl (St. Mary's, PA/St. Mary's) and Finnegan each drilled RBI-singles and Junk scored Margraf on a sac fly.

The Bobcats (16-15, 9-7 AMCC) scored twice in the top of the fourth, but Behrend came right back in the bottom of the frame. Hlavinka ripped an RBI-double to deep right center and then came home on a Greensburg error, putting the Lions up 7-2.

Wolczko sent in Junk with a fifth inning RBI single, and Finnegan doubled in Weinzierl to close out the scoring the following inning.

Rohrer was spectacular, allowing just one earned run while striking out five in the complete game. Dilla and Finnegan each went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Bohman notched his second career four-hit game, going 4-for-4 with two runs scored.

Saturday's victories marked the Lions sixth and seventh consecutive wins.
