Lions Upend Arcadia, 6-2

FORT PIERCE, Fl. – Tommy Kocur (Erie, PA/McDowell) had two extra base hits -- a double and an RBI triple and Chad Zurat (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) pitched six strong innings to lead the Penn State Behrend baseball team past Arcadia 6-2 on Monday.

With the game still scoreless, Kocur led off the third inning with a double and was sent home on Alex Margraf's (Erie, PA/McDowell) RBI single.

The Lions (2-3) made it 2-0 following Jordan Weinzierl's (St. Mary's PA/St. Mary's) RBI single in the top of the sixth. Later in the inning, Casey Kern (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) gave Behrend a 3-0 advantage on another RBI base hit.

After the Knights (1-4) made it a 3-2 game in the bottom of the sixth, the Lions added some much needed insurance in the top of the ninth.

Kern scored on freshman Brandon Bergstrom's (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) double, and Bergstrom then was plated on Kocur's triple. Corey Bowers (Westlake, OH/Westlake) then pushed the Behrend lead to 6-2 on an RBI groundout.

Zurat was spectacular for Behrend, going six innings to earn the win as the Lions never trailed in the contest.

Behrend will take on Arcadia once again on Tuesdasy, March 11 at 10 a.m.
