Five Named to AMCC All-Conference Team

ERIE, Pa. – Five Penn State Behrend baseball players were selected to the 2014 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) All-Conference team, announced on Tuesday.

Freshman Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell) was a first-team All-Conference honoree while Ryan Finnegan (Fombell, PA/Riverside) was named to the All-AMCC second-team. Chad Zurat (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), John Hlavinka (Venetia, PA/Peters Township), and Alex Margraf (Erie, PA/McDowell) each were third-team All-Conference choices.

Bohman is in the midst of a sensational rookie season with the Lions. The Behrend catcher is hitting .361 on the year with 23 runs batted in, 11 stolen bases, and a team-leading two home runs. He has also gunned-down 27 percent of attempted base stealers.

For Finnegan, this is the sophomore's first all-conference selection. He is hitting .320 on the season with eight doubles and 23 RBI's. In addition, Finnegan boasts an on-base percentage of .417.

This is Zurat's third career All-AMCC selection after being named to the third-team last season and the second-team in 2012. The senior is 7-2 on the season with a 2.61 ERA and has struck out 58 in 58.2 innings of work. Hlavinka, a second-team pick last season, is batting .343 in 2014 and is tied for the team lead with 24 runs batted in. In 42 games this season, the sophomore has not committed an error in right field.

Margraf posted a .356 batting average with eight doubles, nine stolen bases, and is tied with Hlavinka for the team-lead in RBI's with 24.

The Lions will host Bethany in the 2014 ECAC South Championship Semifinals on Saturday, May 17 at 4 p.m. at the Behrend Diamond.
