Lions Hot Hitting Helps Defeat Hilbert

HAMBURG, NY – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team hit .477, getting a team-high 12 kills and three blocks from Nate Steele (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) to down Hilbert 3-0 in United Volleyball Conference (UVC) action on Wednesday night.

Evan Fullerton (Ambridge, PA/Ambridge) had a season-best 33 assists and Anthony Capizzi (Pittsburgh, PA/Pittsburgh Central Catholic) had nine kills on 12 attacks with just one error (.727 hitting percentage) to help the Lions (8-16, 4-7 UVC) defeat the Hawks (6-16) for a second time this season.

Behrend took Hilbert in three straight games, winning 25-23, 25-22 and 25-16. With the win, the Lions put themselves in a position for a playoff spot in the UVC Tournament.

Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) hit .357 on seven kills, while Grant Kocher (McMurray, PA/Peters Township) tallied five kills along with Fullerton.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday, March 31 in the AMCC Semifinals against D'Youville. Match starts at 1 p.m.
