Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Allyson Lonas (Johnstown, PA/Conemaugh Township) scored two goals, while Sam Pace (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) added a goal and assist, to lead the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team past Westminster 4-1 in non-conference action on Saturday.

The Lions (4-2-1) netted three straight goals, including two consecutive by Lonas, to collect their fourth win of the season.

Sammy Creese helped the Titans avoid a shutout with the lone goal in the second half.

Defender Abbie Schuster (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) gave Behrend the early 1-0 lead with a goal from 20 yards out just 7:20 into the first half.

The next two goals were by Lonas. She got assistance from Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Pace. Bilka tapped her pass into the box for Lonas to finish and Pace played the ball in from the midfield to put the Lions up, 3-0.

Creese managed to get past goalie Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) in the 59th minute, but it was the first and only goal for the hosts.

Pace tallied the final goal for Behrend on an open net late in the second half for a 4-1 decision.

As a team, the Lions held a 20-9 advantage in shots.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday against Grove City. Kickoff is a 7 p.m.
