Men's Soccer Announces Team Awards

ERIE, Pa - The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team announced their team awards for the 2016 season, which are voted on by the members of the squad. The Lions finished with a 17-2-3 record, putting together an unbeaten streak of 18 games at one point. They won their eighth AMCC title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history.

Senior defender Evan Augustine (South Park, PA/South Park) was named Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season, sharing the honor with teammate Mike Worthy last year. Augustine tied the record for most games played in a Behrend uniform (88) after starting every game this season. His stellar defense helped the Lions hold a 0.57 goals against average including 13 shutouts. He also contributed on offense, adding two goals and an assist for five points.

Newcomer of the Year went to Aaron Harris (Washington, PA/McGuffey). The freshman midfielder played in 21 games for Behrend and started in 12. He scored four goals, three of which were game-winners, and added 3 assists for 11 points. He earned a spot on the AMCC third team.

Nolan Beresford (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) received Most Improved Player. He played in 20 games while starting one. Beresford added a goal and an assists while helping the Lions in the midfield.

Anton Benedikt (Madison, NJ/Madison) received the Herb Lauffer Leadership/Scholarship Award. The senior forward played in 18 games, scored two goals and added one assist.
