Men and Women Alhall Freedom Games Results

EDINBORO, Pa. –Big finishes by both the men and women help the Penn State Berhend Track and Field program perform well at Edinboro University's Alhall Freedom Games, Saturday.

On the men's side Ronsan Mazany and Mike Stark were the big winners. Mazany broke the school-record in the long-jump competition. His first-place mark of 7.02 meters was also good enough to provisionally qualify for the NCAA's. Stark won top honors in two categories.  The senior followed his 8.59 second 60 meter hurdles run with a Behrend pole-vault record clearing 14'11".

The women's 4x800 team which include Mandy Wehrle, Katie Spade, Catie Bertges and Jenna Fatica crossed the line at 10:07 to qualify for the ECAC's. Another key finish for the Lions was Liz Keller who placed 7th in the 3000 meter race completing it in 11:06.29.

Behrend performed well despite going up against Division I and II talent, there was only one other Division III team to participate in the events.

The next time the men's and women's teams will compete will be January 23 in Lake Erie.
